Subjects for the workshop:

  • palpation and assessment of mobility
  • what happens in an inflamed joint? - and how can we treat it?
  • hip pains - wear and tear or muscle tensions?
  • sciatic pain
  • testing and treating the piriformis muscle
  • testing and treating the psoas muscle
  • sciatica and disc herniation
  • acute sciatica technique
  • precise muscle reflexes on the feet
  • nerve reflexology for hip and knee innervation
  • general relaxation technique for the hip and knee
  • simple excercises
  • special joint reflex areas on the lower leg
  • analysis and correction of posture
  • groin injuries and herniation
  • goal directed treatment scheme
  • osteoarthritis - an overused diagnosis?

Recurring hip or sciatic pains are very common. Often with sciatica, the nerve is irritated because of pressure from the piriformis or psoas muscles. With the proper techniques this situation can easily and quickly be changed.

For reflexologists the sciatic nerve is of special interest, because this nerve conveys all pressure and pain information from the feet towards the central nervous system.

Both hip and knee problems have a complex nature and can be difficult to deal with, especially if they involve degenerative changes, but often they are cause by muscular tensions which respond well to reflexology and excercises.

The treatment sequences shows all the techniques we teach in the workshop.

In Touchpoint’s continuing education classes we primarily present techniques from classical and nerve reflexology, and a few selected body techniques.

Towards the end of the course, we discuss the work sequences, which, built on our clinical experiences, is meant as an inspirational tool and a way to remember the new techniques.
