Subjects for the workshop:

  • Embryology, the heart is formed from two different cell lines, see how the heart is structured as a knot, that can be "untied".
  • Heart anatomy and physiology -  about two million heartbeats of a lifetime.
  • The Vagus nerve is mostly an afferent (sensory) connection to the heart, how can we interpret this new finding?
  • The Heart as a hormonal gland.
  • The hearts influence on stress, how can we stimulate it in a positive way?
  • Heart diseases and what we can do.
  • The heart creates our strongest magnetic field, 5000 times stronger than the brain's, what does that mean?
  • The relationship of the heart to other organs during reflexology.
  • Techniques to relax the fascia around the heart.
  • The heart's connection to the diaphragm and psoas muscle.
  • New reflexology techniques for the heart.

Deep wisdom of the heart

In many cultures the heart is viewed as the very center of life.

In ancient Egypt the heart of deceased was weighed in a ceremony to see if they were worthy to enter the afterlife.

The Aztec would sacrifice hearts to return power to the sun. In the Bible the heart represents the innermost part of a human being, its soul or true self.

The Indian Upanishads talk about the Lotus of the Heart, the inner chamber of the self, which becomes an eternal part of the universe, when the body cease to exist. " As large as the external universe, so large is the universe in the heart lotus".

These philosophical descriptions, despite their different origin, share the same deep wisdom of the heart. And excitingly, new scientific research now enables us to revive this old knowledge in a Western reference frame.

Nerve Reflexology points for the thorax

Working points for the intercostal nerves can help reduce tensions and open up the rib cage to provide more space for the heart.

In this workshop we also work with the phrenicus and vagus nerves. We include muscle reflexes for the thorax and diaphragm and a new updated heart reflex.

The heart is much more than a pump

A wealth of new information inspires us to emphasize working more with the heart in all reflexology sessions.

For example, scientists have identified the "heart brain", a large group of nerve cells located on top of the heart around the large vessels going in and out of the heart.

This structure seems capable of high level decision making and talks back to the head brain in complicated ways.

Heart rate variability

Subtle changes in the rhythm of the heart reflect our emotions, and the other way around: When we work with our mind and focus on inner peace, the heart immediately changes.

In the workshop we will measure this change and demonstrate a simple meditation technique to calm the heart.

Work sequence

The work sequence shows all the techniques we teach in the workshop.

In Touchpoint’s continuing education classes we primarily present techniques from classical and nerve reflexology, and a few selected body techniques.

Towards the end of the course, we discuss the work sequence, which, built on our clinical experiences, is meant as an inspirational tool and a way to remember the new techniques.

This workshop will give you a completely new view of the heart.

Dorthe and Peter took a complicated subject like anatomy and made it very easy to understand as well as remember. They're phenonemal instructors that take necessary time with you as an individual to show you exactly where and how to work on your clients. This is easily one of the best reflexology classes I have taken.

- Chantal Magaruh - Nevada, USA -

Thank you much, Peter and Dorthe. You are both magnificent, so well-rounded and empathic, both as stellar individuals and as an exceptionally integrative and professional team. I am grateful to study with you both, such leading-edge pioneers!

- Petra van Noort, New York City -

Peter and Dorthe presented the most organized and professional training class I have ever attended in my adult life. As a 46-year-old veteran I have been through many classes from military training, to underwater welding, to different types of healing modalities. I was very impressed with the work Peter and Dorthe are doing. Thank you for the wealth of information I will be putting to valuable use. Cheers.

- Rigby Oughs - Boulder City, Nevada, USA -

Peter and Dorthe are internationally respected leaders in reflexology; both as practitioners and teachers. I encourage reflexologists everywhere to expand their theoretical horizons and integrate the hands-on techniques from this workshop in their daily practice. You and your clients will be happy with the results!

- Christine Issel - Sacramento, CA, USA -

Touchpoint is well-known around the world for a high professional standard in reflexology. I recommend their teachings, which can widen your practice with great benefit.
